Titanic Passenger – Karen Abelseth

My grandmother, Karen Abelseth was a 3rd class survivor.  She was in lifeboat 16. She was 16 years old .

Even though I have lost the information to the person listed here I am posting it in hopes they will see it and come back and give us more information about this young lady.

From Dan M

It appears that you are looking for more info on Karen Abelseth. What would you like to know?  I’m her grandson, and my mother, Wanda Martin, is Karen’s the only surviving child. My mom will be 96 in May of 2018. My mother took car of both my grandparents as they became older. We lived very close to my grandparents and we ended up living with my grandparents when my father grew very sick and ended up died of cancer. Obviously, I knew my grandparents very well. There are so many errors on the various RMS Titanic sites in regards to Karen.

  1. I am one of her grandaughters. She died in 1969. I have more information, if interested. Her letter to her father, which was found about ten years ago, is an interesting and poignant account of the sinking through the eyes of a young person

  2. Dear Randi:

I am interested in more information about your grandmother, to include the letter to her father, if you wouldn’t mind sharing it. Did you have many conversations with her regarding her time on the Titanic? My daughter is in a play entitled “Titanic Lives” and she is playing Karen Ableseth. 🙂 That’s why I am looking here. I would like to see a picture of her, too – at age 16 (my daugher is 15) and in later years if you don’t mind sharing. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I hope to hear from you soon. My e-mail address is cindyfox86@hotmail.com.

    God bless you richly!
    Because of Jesus,
    Cindy Fox
